
THE MIDWEST CULINARY INSTITUTE The Midwest Culinary Institute was designed by specialists of both culinary instruction and professional industry standards. Many of its features are unique to the Institute. The design brings together state-of-the-art technology together with the tools of the culinary arts. An advanced multimedia system is built into the entire facility and supports the integration of computer technology into the curriculum.
The Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State includes: Two General Instructional Kitchens All kitchens are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Each kitchen has: Self-contained cooler and food storage. Laptop computer docking ports and wireless capability. A camera over the demonstration area with viewing monitors strategically located in the instructional area. Additionally, the kitchens are designed for clear visibility of the instructor and for maximized supervision of students. Each of the two general instructional kitchens has individual work stations for each student.
International Kitchen The International Kitchen has large cooking and preparation spaces. It is equipped with the latest devices and facilities, such as woks and pasta cookers, to prepare a wide range of ethnic and world cuisines. Pastry Kitchen The Pastry Kitchen is fully equipped to demonstrate and teach every aspect of pastry arts. It is built specifically to support pastry degree and certificate programs. There are fully-equipped work stations for each student. |
Two Garde Manger Kitchens The two Garde Manger Kitchens are designed specifically for cold food preparation. Students will learn to prepare buffet platters and competition platters. Such work requires the spacious preparation areas that are found in these kitchens, as well as state-of-the-art technology previously mentioned. Butcher Shop & Fish Shop The Butcher Shop & Fish Shop are especially important to the success of the Midwest Culinary Institute. They are designed and equipped to process all of the meats and fish for the Institute. The climate-controlled kitchen allows students to produce fresh and smoked meats and fish. Demonstration Studio The Demonstration Studio of the Midwest Culinary Institute is unparalleled among culinary programs in its technology and sophistication. The 200-seat theatre has full studio production capabilities, including live broadcasts, teleconferencing and video production. There is a high-tech sound system and multiple camera angles on the demonstration area, which feed to large monitors for maximum visibility. Demonstrations can also be broadcast throughout the Cincinnati State campus and to local or national television stations and networks. Restaurant & Restaurant Kitchen The Midwest Culinary Institute restaurant is a public facility with seating for 90 guests. It is designed for an elegant dining experience. The state-of-the-art kitchen associated with the restaurant serves both classical and modern cuisine. It provides an excellent industry-standard simulation for students in cooking, service and management. Cake Decorating Lab The Decoration Lab is designed to teach every aspect of cake and pastry decoration. It is fully-equipped to teach basic and advanced decorating techniques. Bakery Kitchen The Bakery Lab/Cyber Cafe is a fully-equipped bakery kitchen for volume production of retail products with a sales area. It is designed for training, education or product testing and to offer certifications for baker in the industry. |
